Michael Anderson, 11, a sixth-grader at Jones Middle School, braves the elements while standing in front of the Heart to Heart food pantry Friday. Michael chose to wear a hot dog costume during the school’s annual, on-foot pilgrimage to First Community Church to call attention to hunger. “I was a hot dog for Halloween, so I thought it would be good to wear the costume at the pantry,” he said.
The class collects food for the pantry, then walks more than a mile to deliver the goods and to learn about hunger and Heart to Heart’s mission.
This is the 6th year for the project.
